The physical and optical properties of our created black opals are almost identical to those of a natural black opal from Lightning Ridge, with 80-90% pure opal silica exhibiting a play of colour and vibrancy that equals the most prized of all precious opals.

More About Black Opals
Australian black opals originate in Lightning Ridge and have a black body colour with very little opalescence. They are considered to be the most desirable of all opals. The black or dark grey background allows the navy blues, greens, oranges and reds to stand out in contrast when exposed to light, making the play of colour that much more vibrant. Our created black opals resemble those from Lightning Ridge but at a fraction of the price.
